WRPS welcomes new officers during ceremony at Lang’s in Cambridge
Twenty-three recruits to take Oath of Office and receive badges
The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to welcome Recruit Class #82 to its ranks at a special ceremony to be held in partnership with Lang’s in Cambridge.
Twenty-three new officers have just completed their basic training at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer and will be sworn in and receive their police badges starting a 1pm on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Lang’s, 1145 Concession Rd. Cambridge, Ontario.
“Our Service appreciates the enthusiastic support and cooperation we have received from Lang’s over many years and we look forward to holding our ceremony at this fine community-focused facility,” said Chief Matt Torigian. “Our newest police members are anxious to begin their roles as community-oriented leaders who can help develop the key partnerships fundamental to safe, strong neighbourhoods. “
The new officers bring a wealth of skills, knowledge and experiences to their new careers. Prior to joining the police service, the new members studied in a variety of fields including; criminal justice, psychology, biology, kinesiology, education, health sciences, political science, and media studies and worked in areas such as health care, industrial engineering, teaching, insurance, sales construction, horticulture, cruise ships and the military.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service looks forward to the participation of representatives from Lang’s in our ceremony as well as the involvement of area school children. Also joining senior administration will be members of the Police Services Board, the Ontario Court of Justice, local politicians as well as volunteers, family and friends.
