July 20, 2010- Police and Canada Post investigate mail thefts.
Waterloo Regional Police are working with Canada Post Security to investigate a series of thefts from Canada Post mail boxes and Community Letter Boxes. The suspects are targeting the boxes for cheques and credit card applications. On July 11, 2010, at approximately 1:49pm, a male suspect was seen placing mail from a box on King Street North into a blue container. The suspect, described as White, 6', and a shaved head, then left the area in a blue vehicle driven by another male. The container and some of the mail was later located in a nearby dumpster. It is unknown if anything was taken. Police are currently urging anyone planning to mail items of monetary value to take them directly to a Canada Post Office. Police continue to investigate and urge anyone noticing suspicious activity to contact police at once.
