| Waterloo Regional officers assist with G-20 conference |

For Immediate Release: June 8, 2010 Waterloo Region, ON – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to provide a contingent of officers to assist and support security and safety duties related to the G20 Conference later this month in Toronto. Traffic Services officers, general patrol officers and members of the Public Safety Unit will be working in conjunction with numerous other police services and agencies and deployed to a variety of safety and security duties, motorcade escorts and crowd management functions between June 18 to 28, 2010.
“Our members are committed to serving our community and the citizens of Ontario with excellence and distinction,” said Police Chief Matt Torigian. “As a Service, we believe that effective policing includes proactive cooperation with other agencies and resources. We are very proud to have this opportunity to work with our partners where together, we will work diligently toward ensuring the safety and security of everyone impacted by this major international event.” Financial assistance for salaries and other expenses are being provided by the Government of Canada.
