On Saturday, October 29, 2011, Waterloo Regional Police and emergency services responded to the Comfort Inn hotel located at 220 Holiday Inn Drive in Cambridge.  Inside a second floor room, police discovered a man and woman who had suffered stab wounds. 

Paula Mare, 38 years of Cambridge was pronounced dead at the scene. Post-mortem results confirm she died as a result of stab wounds. Mare was an employee of the Comfort Inn and was working at the time.

TRAYNOR AVE, KITCHENER
On October 31, 2011 at approximately 4:20 a.m. Waterloo Regional Police and Kitchener Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in the underground parking area at a Traynor Avenue apartment building.

The fire was contained within the underground parking garage where a lone motor vehicle was located with the engine bay to be engulfed in flames.

Safety tips for parents:

•           Know the route your child is taking and map it out with them ahead of time.

•           Ensure your child is accompanied by an adult or trusted group.

•           Set a time for your child to return home.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service has been chosen by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Cisco to receive the 2011 Community Policing Award. Chief Matt Torigian and Superintendent Barry Zehr will accept the award on Wednesday, October 26, at the 118th Annual International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Chicago, Illinois.

On October 6th, 2011, at approximately 3:24 a.m., an unknown male entered a variety store on Norfolk Avenue in Cambridge and demanded money.
