Incident # 11-020504    Type : Suspicious Vehicle    
SNOWDROP CRT, KITCHENER
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating two separate reports of a suspicious vehicle.

The first occurred Thursday January 27, 2011 at approximately 8am on Activa Avenue where an unknown male in a green car asked two young boys if they wanted to see interior of his car. The boys declined and continued on their way, later reporting the incident to their parents who contacted police.

The second incident occurred Friday January 28 2011 at approximately 1pm at the plaza located at 700 Strasburg Road where a young female was asked if she wanted a ride by a similar male. She did not respond and continued on to her destination later reporting the incident to her parents who contacted police.

The vehicle is described as an older model small four door sedan, green in color with lightly tinted windows and some rust.
Suspect is described as a white male, late 30's, tall, clean shaven, short brown hair, long face, wearing red and white jacket.

Incident # 10-245388    Type : Fraud    
KING ST N, WATERLOO
In November of 2010, police received a complaint that an adult Kitchener male had been defrauded by another male who was representing himself as an Immigration Officer with Canada Border Services Agency.

The victim paid this individual approximately $4000 with the belief that he would be granted lawful status within Canada.

Investigators, working in partnership with Canada Border Services Agency, suspect that the fraud scheme is multi-jurisdictional and has involved multiple victims, some of whom have been deported out of Canada.

Investigators identified a Brampton male and with the assistance of Peel Regional Police, the suspect was arrested on January 29, 2011 at a Brampton residence.

Albino IRGOLINO has been charged with Personating a Peace Officer, Fraud Under $5000.00, Breach Probation and Personate an Immigration Officer under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Police have determined that the suspect had sometimes identified himself using the alias name "Al GUILIANI". The investigation is ongoing and charges in other jurisdictions are pending. Incident # 11-021805    Type : Robbery    
JAMIESON PKY,
On January 29, 2011 just after 10:30am, Hespeler Pharmacy a lone male entered the store at approximately 10:30 am, approached the pharmacy area, and demanded drugs from the attendant.

The male, who indicated he had a weapon, was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of prescription medication and fled the area.

The suspect is described as a white male 5'10" tall, short brown hair, scruffy face, wearing a puffy jacket and a toque.

GRAND AVE S, CAMBRIDGE
On January 29, 2011, at approximately 12:05 a.m., two Cambridge males in their late 20's were walking along on Grand Avenue South in the City of Cambridge when they were approached by a male who was with a group of males and females.

One of the victims was assaulted and had some personal items taken. The victim sustained minor injuries to the face not requiring medical attention.

Police are requesting the public's assistance in identifying any potential witnesses to this incident and to contact Waterloo Regional Police South Division Detectives at 519-653-7700 x2299.

Incident # 11-022719    Type : Assault    
UNIVERSITY AVE W, WATERLOO
On January 30th, 2011, at approximately 1:00am, a female was struck with a bottle by a male while attending a licenced establishment in the City of Waterloo. The assault resulted in minor injuries, not requiring medical attention at the time.

The incident was reported to police and the suspect was identified.

A 23 year old Kitchener man was arrested for assault with a weapon. The accused was later released pending a later court apppearance.

ERB ST W, WATERLOO
On Sunday January 30th , 2011, at approximately 1:25 am a 19 year old male victim and 3 friends were standingon King Street North when an unknown white male jogging northbound on King Street punched the victim.

The victim received an eye injury as a result of the assault and was treated at St Mary’s hospital for his injuries.

The victim and suspect had had no previous communication prior to this incident. Nothing was said by either parties and nothing was taken.

The suspect was described as a white male, 6’0, dark short hair, wearing dark pants and a dark jacket.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information are asked to contact Waterloo Regional Police at (519) 653-7700 ext 3399 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Incident # 11-021538    Type : Fire    
KING ST N , WATERLOO
On Saturday January 29, 2011, at approximately 12:37 a.m. a fire started in a unit at 316 King Street North in Waterloo. All building tenants were safely evacuated and there were no injuries.

Waterloo Fire Rescue attended and extinguished the fire in a timely manner.

Waterloo Fire Rescue is investigating to determine the cause of the fire. Damage is estimated to be at least $25,000 and is not deemed to be suspicious in nature.

Incident # 11-022711    Type : Motor Vehicle Collision - Injuries    
BETHEL RD, WILMOT
On January 30th 2011 at approximately 12:10 pm a snowmobile collision occurred in Wilmot Township between Hallman Rd and Sandhills Rd on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club trail.

A 49 year old West Lorne female left the trail and struck a tree. She was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Speed and alcohol were not a factor.

Incident # 11-021758    Type : Traffic Enforcement    
PEEL ST, WILMOT
Waterloo Regional Police were patrolling area Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trails on the weekend checking for impaired drivers as well OFSC trail riding compliance.

There were a number of events in and around the region this weekend and more are planned. WRPS Trail Patrols will be out in force to ensure everyone is able to enjoy the season safely.

A total of 268 sleds were stopped with no alcohol related charges and 4 warnings for document violations.

Police in partnership with MADD Canada remind the public not to drink and drive while snowmobiling.
