Incident # 12-195489    Type : Robbery    
LORRAINE AVE, KITCHENER
On August 20th, 2012 shortly before 5:00pm, Police were notified about a robbery which occurred behind Heritage plaza, located at 200 Lorraine Drive in Kitchener.

Two Waterloo Region men were standing near a vehicle when they were approached by 2 suspects carrying handguns and who had their faces covered with bandannas.

A physical altercation occurred which resulted in one victim receiving a minor injury. There are no indications that any firearms were discharged during this incident and detectives are working to determine if the objects carried by the suspects are real or replicas.

Nothing was taken as a result of the incident. The suspects were last observed running along a foot path towards Tupper Crescent.

A canine track was conducted however the suspects were not located. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact Central Division Detectives 519 650 8500 ext. 4499 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Incident # 12-195272    Type : Robbery    
WEBER ST W, KITCHENER
At approximately 12:45 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 a person on person robbery occurred in the area of 41 Weber Street West, Kitchener. The victim, a 50 year old Hamilton man, was approached by the suspect. The suspect struck the victim and stole a quantity of money.

The victim received minor injuries. He did not require medical attention.

This is believed to be a targeted attack. The suspect is an aquaintance of the victim.

The suspect is described as a white male, 50 years old, 6' tall, 220 pounds with a muscular build. The suspect has short brown and grey hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a grey and black emblem on the back and blue jeans.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Central Division at 519 653 7700 x 4499 or call Crime Stoppers.

Incident # 12-195787    Type : Fire    
CARDILL CRES, WATERLOO
On August 21, 2012 at approximately 1:00am police and the Waterloo Fire Department responded to a shed fire on Cargill Crescent, Waterloo.

It is uncertain what caused the fire. The fire was contained to the shed and damage is estimated to be approximately $2,000.

Fire prevention officers of the Waterloo Fire Department will be assessing the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Incident # 12-195650    Type : Robbery    
HIGHLAND RD W, KITCHENER
On Monday August 20th, 2012 at 8:40 pm an unknown male entered the Pizza Pizza located on Highland Road West in Kitchener brandishing a long piece of metal.

The male demanded cash and struck the clerk with the piece of metal causing a minor injury.

The male left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled in a beige coloured 4 door vehicle towards Fischer Hallman Road.

Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact North Division 519 650 8500 ext. 3399 or Crime Stoppers 1 800 222 8477.

Incident # 12-195700    Type : Fire    
SUNSET DR, WOOLWICH
Emergency Services responded to a residence in Winterbourne at 10:15 PM on Monday August 20 2012 for a fire in a detached workshop behind the main house. It is believed to have started by unobserved sparks created by the homeowner as he was grinding in the shop. They eventually ignited the wooden structure. Fire Departments from Conestogo, Maryhill and St Jacobs responded and extinguished the blaze. It is not believed to be suspicious and initial damage estimates are approximately $30000.00.

Incident # 12-195957    Type : Motor Vehicle Collision - Injuries    
RIVERBANK DR, CAMBRIDGE ON CANADA (AREA: WS
Just after 8:00 am on Tuesday Aug 21, 2012 a collision between a cyclist and a motor vehicle occurred at Riverbank Dr and Middle Block Rd in Cambridge.

The intersection was closed for approximately 2 hours as WRPS Traffic Branch officers conducted a collision reconstruction.

A 47 yr old cyclist from Cambridge was west bound on Middle Block Rd approaching a stop sign. A 33 yr old Cambridge female was north bound on Riverbank Dr with right of way intent on proceeding straight thru the intersection with Middle Block Rd ahead.

The cyclist turned left at the intersection and struck the northbound motor vehicle at the right front corner of the bumper.

The male was transported to an area hospital via ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.

The bicycle was destroyed and the car received very significant damage.

The investigation is continuing and if any one has witnessed this collision they are encouraged to call WRPS 519 653 7700 using ext.8856. Charges are pending. Speed and alcohol are not factors in the incident.

Incident # 12-195735    Type : Motor Vehicle Collision - Injuries    
HESPELER RD, CAMBRIDGE ON CANADA (AREA: WRN
Just after 11pm on Monday August 21, 2012, a Cambridge male sustained minor injuries from a single motor vehicle collision.

The collision occurred in the south bound lanes of Hespeler Rd, south of Maple Grove Rd. The male driver swerved to avoid a cyclist who was at the shoulder of the road.

The car rolled over approximately 5-6 times. Speed is believe to be a contributing factor in this collision.

A 19 year old male has been charged with Driving while Disqualified under the Criminal Code of Canada, and multiple Highway Traffic Act offences including Careless Driving.
