Incident # 12-165607 Type : Break and Enter

STRASBURG RD , KITCHENER
At approximately 4:45 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 an altercation occurred between two groups of individuals on Strasburg Road in the area of Ottawa Street South in the City of Kitchener. Several parties were seen brandishing weapons.

No one was injured as a result of the altercation. Investigation revealed that the confrontation occurred as a result of an earlier break-in to a residence. All parties are known to each other.

As a result of the incident a 15 year old Kitchener male was arrested for break and enter and weapons related offences. He was held for a bail hearing.

Incident # 12-164920 Type : Break and Enter
VICTORIA ST N, KITCHENER
On July15, 2012 at approximately 3:20am, Waterloo Regional Police responded to a break and enter in progress at a hair salon on Victoria St. North, Kitchener.

A 43 year old Kitchener female was arrested a short distance away and the stolen property was recovered.

The female was charged with break and enter and commit theft, mischief under $5000 and possession of stolen property under $5000. She was held for a bail hearing.

Incident # 12-164919 Type : Assault
WEST AVE, KITCHENER
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012, an altercation occurred between two males in a backyard on West Avenue in the City of Kitchener.

As a result of being struck with a bottle, one of the males was transported to hospital after sustaining serious facial injuries. The second male was transported to hospital after sustaining a minor injury to his hand.

One male, 39 years of age from Kitchener, was arrested and held for a bail hearing, charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. The two males are known to each other. Police are not seeking any further suspects.

Incident # 12-163746 Type : Offensive Weapons
BORDEN AVE N, KITCHENER ON CANADA (AREA: WC
Friday, July 13, 2012 at 8:25 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of East Ave and Borden Ave N, Kitchener to a disturbance involving a group of youths.

During the altercation an adult male was threatened with a golf club and an object resembling a knife.

Subsequent to the investigation, an 18 year old male Kitchener male, and a 37 year old female resident of Waterloo where jointly charged with Weapons Dangerous, Assault with a Weapon and Utter Threats. Both are to appear in court.

It was later determined that the knife in question was a shoe horn. No injuries were sustained as a result of this altercation.

Incident # 12-163899 Type : Drugs
HWY / -FOUNDRY RD, WILMOT ON (AREA: WRS
On July 14/2012 Waterloo Regional Police conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 7-8 near Foundry Rd in Wilmot Township.

Through subsequent investigation, the three occupants were found to be in possession of marihuana production equipment and were subsequently arrested.

The WRPS Drug Branch assisted by checking numerous locations throughout Waterloo Region and surrounding areas.

As a result 153 marihuana plants were located.

Three Kitchener men, ages 28, 29, 30, are charged with production of a controlled substance. The driver is also charged with driving while under suspension. Various property including the vehicle was seized as offence-related property.

Incident # 12-165575 Type : Impaired Driver
EAGLE ST, CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO
On July 16 2012 at 2:43am , Police observed a white Acura Integra being driven at a high rate of speed with no headlights functioning.

Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver refused to stop and continued to accelerate travelling through several stop signs.

A suspect apprehension pursuit was initiated and the vehicle came to a stop after less than a kilometer.

The lone male occupant was arrested without incident. No injuries, damage to public property, or motor vehicle collisions as a result of the pursuit.

A 19 year old Cambridge male is charged with impaired driving, Over 80 mg, flight from police and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Incident # 12-165391 Type : Robbery
WATER ST S, CAMBRIDGE ON CANADA (AREA: WS
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a reported robbery that occurred on Sunday, July 15, 2012.

At approximately 7:30pm, a Cambridge male was walking on the trail along the Grand River near Water Street South in Cambridge. He was approached by an unknown person and attacked.

The male received serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital and then taken to Hamilton for further treatment.

Police are requesting any witnesses to contact South Division Detectives at 519 650 8500 ext. 2299 or Crime Stoppers 1 800 222 8477.

Incident # 12-164897 Type : Offensive Weapons
LOWTHER STREET, CAMBRIDGE ON CANADA (AREA: WS
In the early morning hours of July 15th, 2012, Waterloo Regional Police officers responded to a stabbing incident on Lowther Street, in the City of Cambridge. Both the suspect and the victim are known to each other. The two men left a local establishment to settle a dispute when the suspect pulled a knife cutting the victim on the arm. A physical altercation left the victim with a second wound to the chest. The suspect left on foot and was not located. The victim was transported to Cambridge Memorial Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

South Division Detectives are seeking assistance from witnesses. Contact Waterloo Regional Police Service at 519-650-8500, extension 2299, if you witnessed this event and have not already spoken to a police officer.

Incident # 12-163078 Type : Theft from Vehicle
GLENVALLEY DRIVE, CAMBRIDGE ON CANADA (AREA: WS
During the early morning hours on July 13, 2012 a 34 year old Cambridge man was arrested for stealing from vehicles in the Saginaw Parkway and Townline Road area in the city of Cambridge. The male was in possession of numerous stolen personal electronic devices and other personal items.

If any member of the public had their vehicles entered during the overnight hours of July 12th into the early morning hours of July 13th please contact the South Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 519-650-8500 ext. 2232.

The public is reminded to ensure their vehicles, homes and sheds are locked during overnight hours.

The male suspect was held for a bail hearing and the matter is still under investigation.

Incident # 12-154264 Type : Theft under 5000
GARTH MASSEY DR, CAMBRIDGE
On July 9, 2012, police arrested a 17 year old Cambridge male in connection with an investigation into numeorus thefts from vehicles in the area of Can-Amera Parkway and Townline Road in the city of Cambridge between July 1-9, 2012.

Many personal items including electronics, money and wallets were stolen from unlocked vehicles.

The 17 year old has been charged with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.

This matter is still under investigation. If anyone residing in this area is missing items from their vehicles they are asked to contact South Division Detectives at 519-650-8500 ext. 2232 or Crime Stoppers 1 800 222 8477.

The public is reminded to lock their unattended vehicles, homes and sheds.

Incident # 12-163126 Type : Traffic Enforcement
DUMFRIES RD AT CEDAR CREEK RD, NORTH DUMFRIES ON CANADA (AREA: WRS
On Friday July 13, 2012, officers from the Waterloo Regional Police Services' Traffic Branch, CORE team and patrol conducted motorcycle safety inspections in the Township of North Dumfries.

A total of 275 motorcycles were checked. Most of the riders inspected were riding safely but 7 charges were laid including five improper helmets. Five motorcycles were taken out of service.

The Traffic Services Branch is committed to a leadership role in the promotion of traffic safety and traffic enforcement, in a community partnership to improve road safety and the quality of life for all people.
