Incident # 12-158948 Type : Motor Vehicle Collision - Injuries
OTTAWA ST S, KITCHENER
On July 8th 2012, at 4:40 am, a 42 year old Kitchener man was operating a motorcycle on Ottawa Street South in Kitchener when he lost control in a curve and crossed to the opposing gravel shoulder.
The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the incident.
The male was charged with Impaired Operation and having Over 80 mg BAC.
Incident # 12-157716 Type : Industrial Accident
COURTLAND AVE E, KITCHENER
On Friday July 6, 2012 at approximately 7:30 pm a 54 year old male suffered a non life threatening work related injury at the Maple Leaf food processing plant located at 321 Courtland Ave in the city of Kitchener. The employee was transported to hospital by ambulance and was treated for injuries to his hand.
The Ministry of Labour has been contacted and is investigating the incident.

NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS DR, CAMBRIDGE
On July 09, 2012 at 1:32 a.m. Waterloo Regional Police and Cambridge Fire Department responded to a residential fire at Northview Heights Dr. in the City of Cambridge.
The fire started in the basement unit and is not believed to be suspicious. All occupants were evacuated and there were no reported injuries.
Cambridge Fire Department extinguished the fire and will be investigating the matter. The damage is estimated to be $100,000.00.

SHAW AVE W, CAMBRIDGE
On Sunday July 8, 2012 police were called to Shaw Avenue in the City of Cambridge. Police were advised by the homeowner that she was alerted to her fence and tree stump in the backyard being on fire. Cambridge Fire arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire is believed to be careless discarding of a cigarette. Damage is estimated at $500.00. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
Incident # 12-158936 Type : Motor Vehicle Collision - Injuries
DUNDAS ST S, CAMBRIDGE
At approximately 3:50 am on July 8, 2012 a twenty one year old Cambridge male was deliberately struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Franklin Bv and Dundas Street in the City of Cambridge.
This occurred after a confrontation was initiated involving a group of males. The victim was transported to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
A 24 year old Cambridge male turned himself into the police at South Division at 9:45 a.m. on July 8, 2012. He has been charged with Criminal Negligence causing Bodily Harm, Dangerous Driving causing Bodily Harm, and Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident causing Bodily Harm.

Incident # 12-158549 Type : Impaired Driver
SPEEDSVILLE ROAD AT RIVER SIDE PARK, CAMBRIDGE ON CANADA (AREA: WS
On July 7, 2012 just before 7pm a 54 year old Cambridge male was involved in a collision on Speedsville Road near the rear entrance to River Side Park.
The driver disobeyed a traffic signal at this location and drove into oncoming traffic colliding with another vehicle.
Witnesses, believing the driver be impaired, attempted to prevent him from leaving the scene by removing the keys from the ignition.
The driver struck a male several times while he was removing the keys. The driver then left his vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. He was followed by another witness.
The driver struck this witness as well and brandished a large knife.
Upon arrival, officers arrested the driver following a brief struggle.
Dale Blackwell, 54, of Cambridge, was charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80mg, Dangerous Driving, Fail to Remain at Scene of an Accident, Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest. He will be appearing in court on July 19, 2012.
Incident # 12-158036 Type : Fire
ELLIS AVE, KITCHENER
On Saturday July 7th 2012 at approximately 3:15 am Waterloo Regional Police and the Kitchener Fire responded to a house fire on Ellis Ave in the City of Kitchener
The fire appears to have started on the main floor of the residence and spread to the second floor and roof.
The homeowner was not home at the time and no one was injured as a result of the fire. Damage to the house is estimated to be $250,000.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The Kitchener Fire Department is investigating.
Incident # 12-159416 Type : Motor Vehicle Collision - Injuries
DEBORAH GLAISTER LINE, WELLESLEY
At approximately 8:30 pm on July 8, 2012, a horse-drawn wagon westbound on Deborah Glaister Line was struck from behind by a Pontiac Sunfire, knocking the occupants of the wagon onto the roadway. The wagon then went into a ditch.
Four of the seven passengers in the wagon were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and one of the two horses pulling the wagon suffered a broken leg and had to be destroyed. Three are being treated for possible head injuries, while the fourth was treated and released.
The driver of the Pontiac Sunfire, a 52 yr. old Milverton woman, was not injured.
The driver of the Pontiac was charged with Careless Driving. Bright sunlight is believed to be a contributing factor.
