 As a result of separate resolutions passed by Township of Woolwich Council on September 8, 2014, and Region of Waterloo Council on September 9, the Waterloo Regional Police Service received a formal communication requesting the Service conduct a criminal investigation into expenditures claimed by Woolwich Mayor, Todd Cowan.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service are travelling to Ottawa by foot, bicycle and convoy this weekend to commemorate fallen officers at the Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service took part in a joint investigation and press conference today hosted by the Ontario Provincial Police which highlighted the work of a coordinated child pornography investigation.  Lead by the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, a total of 99search warrants were executed, resulting in 249charges against 60 persons.

In Waterloo Region, three arrests were made and include the following individuals and charges.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service has made several arrests in a lengthy drug trafficking project.  Members of the Guns and Gangs Unit have been actively investigating a number of individuals suspected of trafficking firearms, crystal methamphetamine, marihuana, and cocaine since January 2014. 

The investigation dubbed ‘Project Colts’ has led to the arrest of several people and resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of controlled substances, firearms and Canadian currency.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating an aggravated assault which occurred on King Street West in downtown Kitchener.  On September 21, 2014, at approximately 1:30 a.m. two 22 year old males were assaulted by three men outside a Kitchener establishment. The parties had been involved in an earlier altercation.  

 

One of the victims was admitted to Hamilton General Hospital for his injuries and is currently listed in critical condition.  The second male was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment and released.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police in partnership with the City of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo are conducting the 11th annual Door Knocker Program in the areas surrounding the Universities.

Police Officers, Bylaw Officers, WLU and UW Campus Police and City of Waterloo Fire Department will be going door to door September 16, 2014 starting at 6PM to speak with residents and deliver flyers containing a welcome message to students and information about living in Waterloo.

For Immediate Release: September 10, 2014

Waterloo Region, ON – On the 11th of September 2014, at approximately 12:55 am, Waterloo Regional Police responded to an injured person call at a Kitchener residence.  

A 41 year old Kitchener woman was transported by ambulance to hospital where she continues to receive treatment for life threatening injuries.  

A 48 year old male was arrested at the residence by Central Patrol.  

The male has been charged with Attempted Murder.  He is being held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice.
