The Waterloo Regional Police Service is asking for the communities assistance in locating Joshua Cowell, born June 17, 1977.

Joshua Cowell was last seen today at approximately 5:30 p.m. in Waterloo.

Joshua Cowell is considered dangerous and should not be approached. His parole has been revoked.

Anyone observing Cowell is asked to call 911 immediately.

Cowell is described as white, 5’11, 180 lbs., red hair, tattoos on his left and right arms and his neck. There is no clothing description.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating numerous break and enters to student housing buildings in Waterloo that occurred sometime overnight on August 20, 2017.

Five student-occupied buildings in the area of Hickory Street, King Street North and Spruce Street were targeted, with more than 30 units entered. Electronic items, including laptops, phones and video game stations, were stolen. All of the rooms entered were left unlocked.

Waterloo Region, Ontario –  The Waterloo Regional Police are currently investigating an altercation resulting in the death of a Kitchener male. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m., August 31, 2017 on Chandler Drive, Kitchener.

For Immediate Release: August 27, 2017

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police are currently investigating an altercation between two men, resulting in the death of a male. The incident occurred today on Mooregate Crescent, Kitchener at approximately 4:45 p.m. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators from Major Crime, General Investigations, Forensic Identification and Special Response Officers are in the preliminary stages of this investigation.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police want to remind the community to make safety a top priority as kids and students head back to the classroom.

Elementary and high school students, as well as teachers, will start a new academic year on September 5, 2017, and all drivers are reminded to watch out for children walking and biking to school. Drivers are also reminded of their obligation to stop in both directions for school buses when they see overhead red warning signals and a flashing stop sign.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating John Darren McCluskey, 47 years, of Cambridge, who is currently wanted on a warrant. 
 
Police allege that McCluskey committed an Indignity to a Body in relation to the found human remains of Christopher Deweese located in North Dumfries Township on July 12, 2017. 
 
McCluskey is considered violent and should not be approached.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – On August 26, 2017, Waterloo Regional Police Sergeant Peter Viol will begin a 4,300-kilometre trek across Canada to raise funds for the Regional Cardiac Care Centre at St. Mary’s General Hospital.

The self-supported Heartbeat Tour will see Sergeant Viol cycle from Vancouver to Waterloo Region, a ride to commemorate the passing of his late wife, Monique, who died from complications following a heart transplant in 1983. She was 20 years old.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a 19-year-old Kitchener man in connection to a series of sexual assaults that date back to June, 2016.

The male was arrested on May 31, 2017, in connection to an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the area of Conestoga Mall in Waterloo at 11:30 p.m. on May 27, 2017. A teenaged female was walking through the parking lot of the mall after getting off a Grand River Transit bus when she was approached by an unknown male and sexually assaulted.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating numerous break and enters to student housing buildings in Waterloo that occurred between August 19, 2017 and August 20, 2017.

At least six rooms in buildings on King Street North and Spruce Street were broken into. Electronic items, including laptops, phones and video game stations, were stolen. The break-ins were discovered by students who returned to their rooms after being away for the weekend. All of the rooms entered were left unlocked.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to welcome members of Recruit Class #94 to its ranks at a special badging ceremony to be held at the Breslau Community Centre on August 16, 2017.

Seven new Constables have recently completed their basic training at the Ontario Police College and will be officially sworn in and receive their police badges during the ceremony.
