This service, launched last year, enhances personal safety and access to 9-1-1 for members of the deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and speech impaired community (DHHSI).

The Waterloo Regional Police Service along with MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) of Waterloo Region are partnering to raise awareness around impaired driving and to remind motorists to drive sober this holiday season and all year round. This weekend, the Waterloo Regional Police Service will participate in the launch of the local Red Ribbon Project, a campaign which distributes thousands of red ribbons across Waterloo Region as a tribute to the victims of impairment-related crashes and as a reminder to plan a safe way home.

Waterloo Region, Ontario–  Waterloo Regional Police are issuing a warning to residents following a possible telephone scam that occurred this week.

A Mount Forest woman received a phone call from an unknown man who said he was collecting donation money on behalf of the “Waterloo Police Auxiliary,” located in Cambridge. He advised the victim that other people were donating between $30 and $40.

Police are requesting that anyone who receives a call similar to the one described above to please contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service at 519-653-7700.
