Waterloo Region, ON- At approximately 7pm this evening, police responded to a parking lot in the 500 block of Belmont Street near Gage Avenue in Kitchener in relation to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, emergency services located a 25 year old male without vital signs and suffering from a gun shot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police are attempting to notify next of kin. A post mortem examination is expected to be scheduled tomorrow.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim was targeted. A male suspect is believed to have fled the area in a vehicle.
A Command Post is being established and residents in the area should expect to see an enhanced police presence as the onscene investigation continues.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the Homicide Branch with the assistance of North Division detectives.
