Waterloo Region, ON –On Friday August 19, 2011 at approximately 3:19am, police responded to the area of King Street and Benton Street in Kitchener for reported gun shots. Police contained the area and closed a section of King Street East.
Investigation reveals that a street level dispute involving several individuals had occurred at the time the shots were heard.
Police are currently looking for a silver Chrysler Pacifica and a black BMW. A third vehicle may also have been involved.
Two windows of a nearby hotel were damaged. There were no occupants in the rooms where the damage occurred and police have not received any reports of injuries.
Investigators believe there is no link between the incident and the hotel and no occupant or guest of the hotel is believed to have been the target of this incident.
King Street was closed for several hours this morning while police continued the on scene investigation.
A team of detectives and forensics officers continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.
