Waterloo Regional Police welcome twelve new officers

Chief Bryan Larkin and Police Services Board Chair Tom Galloway will present twelve new Constables with their police badges today as they officially welcome the new officers to the ranks of the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

“Each member of this class offers a background in one of the most important aspects of policing - teamwork,” said Bryan Larkin Chief of Police. “Working together as a team is at the forefront of what we do, both as an organization and as a community, and these new officers will find their experience in this area will serve them well throughout their careers.”

The ceremony will take place today, Friday, December 16, at 1 p.m. in the Rotunda at Kitchener City Hall.  The recruits will also be introduced to the community during a special on-ice puck drop appearance as the Kitchener Rangers face-off versus the Sudbury Wolves tonight. 

For the new officers, these events represent the culmination of an extensive recruitment and selection process, three months of training at the Ontario Police College, and the official beginning of their policing careers serving the residents of Waterloo Region.
