The year 2015 was one of many accomplishments for the Waterloo Regional Police Service Auxiliary Unit. Last year, our members participated in 214 community events totaling an incredible 16, 265 hours volunteered to our community. Our dedicated volunteer members, who undergo continuous training, can be found at many major events throughout our community. These events include parades, music festivals, sporting events, neighbourhood festivals and a variety of Crime Prevention and Public Education initiatives. These events, which strengthen the fabric of our Region, run safely and efficiently with the support of the dedicated volunteer men and women who from various professions and backgrounds, proudly serve our community through their service in the Waterloo Regional Police Service Auxiliary Unit.
After completing a minimum of fifty hours of training, these volunteers are assigned to a divisional unit where they volunteer a minimum of twelve hours per month to our community.
Some of the events and community programs that they assist with include the Elmira’s Maple Syrup Festival, Wellesley’s Apple Butter & Cheese Festival, Canada Day celebrations and numerous Santa Claus Parades, just to name a few.
