On Saturday May 25, 2019, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to Victoria Park in Kitchener for a report of a male in distress in the water. Police arrived and located a male floating face down in the water. Officers entered the water and rescued the male by pulling him to shore. They then immediately performed CPR. The male, a 53-year-old resident of Kitchener, was transported to hospital where he remains in serious condition. At this time, there is not information to determine the incident is suspicious in nature. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
