SIU Invokes Mandate after Allegation Involving Waterloo Regional Police

Waterloo Region, Ontario – On March 10, 2019, at approximately 11:11 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police were involved in an investigation involving a suspected impaired driver in the Township of Wellesley.

During this investigation, an allegation of sexual assault was made.  This allegation prompted WRPS to notify the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has invoked their mandate. As required by law, any allegation of sexual assault or incident involving serious injury must be reported to the SIU.  No further information can be provided by the Waterloo Regional Police Service at this time.
