Kitchener Man Charged in Two Separate Sexual Assaults

Waterloo Region, Ontario –  Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a Kitchener man in connection to two separate sexual assault investigations.

The first incident occurred on April 15, 2018, at approximately 3 a.m. near King Street South and Union Street in Waterloo. A woman was walking in the area when she reported being approached from behind by an unknown male and dragged to a nearby parking lot where she was sexually assaulted. The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The second incident occurred during the early morning hours of April 21, 2018. Waterloo Regional Police responded to a residence on Jackson Avenue in Kitchener for a report of a sexual assault. A female reported that she had attended the residence and was sexually assaulted while inside. She was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.

A 28-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with several offences, including Aggravated Sexual Assault, Choking to Overcome Resistance, Forcible Confinement, Uttering Threats, and Sexual Assault. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kitchener today.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Branch, Special Victims Branch, Intelligence Service Branch and the Forensic Identification Branch, are continuing to investigate and are working with the Centre of Forensic Sciences to determine possible links to any other ongoing investigations.
