Waterloo Regional Police Welcome 13 New Officers

Waterloo Region, Ontario –  The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to welcome members of Recruit Class #97 to its ranks at a special badging ceremony to be held at the North Dumfries Community Centre in Ayr on August 7, 2018.

Thirteen new Constables have recently completed their basic training at the Ontario Police College and will be officially sworn in and receive their police badges during the ceremony.

“We are excited to welcome a large class of new Constables to the community,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “Each of these new officers bring an incredible amount of experience and skill set to the Waterloo Regional Police Service and are excited to embark on a career where community safety and wellness are top priorities.”

Prior to joining the police service, the new members studied in a variety of fields, including, Health Sciences, Police Foundations, Sociology, Psychology, Legal Studies, Science, Nursing, Mathematics, Business Administration, Criminology and Political Science. As well, the officers bring a large range of interests and experience in leadership and volunteer roles in community agencies and activities.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. and will include members of our Senior Administration, Police Services Board, the Ontario Court of Justice, as well as volunteers, family and friends.
