Waterloo Region Crime Stoppers and Waterloo Regional Police Partner with Mac’s Convenience/Circle K Stores for “Operation Heat”

Waterloo Region, Ontario – As the cool weather approaches, the Waterloo Regional Police Service is pleased to partner with Crime Stoppers and Mac’s Convenience/Circle K stores to offer our youth a warm reward for good behavior.

Operation Heat will kick off December 1 throughout Waterloo Region with police officers handing out “tickets,” or coupons, to youth who are seen exhibiting positive behavior within the community.

The coupons can be taken to any Mac’s Convenience/Circle K store to be redeemed for a free hot chocolate.

“Mac’s is excited to partner with the Waterloo Regional Police on this important initiative that encourages youth across the Region to make positive decisions within their communities,” says Sean Sportun, Manager, Security & Loss Prevention for Mac’s/Circle K in Central Canada.

Operation Heat is a chance to not only reinforce good behavior, but to build positive relationships between our youth and our officers.

“We want to let youth know that we are grateful for their good choices and good deeds,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “When they make good and safe choices, they are contributing positively to our community and are helping make Waterloo Region a better place to live. For that, they deserve to be rewarded.”

Good deeds can include a number of different actions, including picking up garbage, holding the door open for someone  or helping a younger brother or sister walk safely across the street.

The program will run throughout the winter months.
