Waterloo Regional Police Officer Charged in Off-Duty Incident

Waterloo Region, Ontario –  Oxford County OPP have charged a 30-year-member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service in connection with an investigation into an off-duty matter.

The member, a Constable assigned to the Investigative Services Division, has been charged with one count of Uttering Threats. The alleged incident occurred June 5, 2018.

The officer is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on June 28, 2018 at 10 a.m.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Professional Standards Branch will also be conducting a review of the circumstances.

While the investigation continues, the member has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Police Services Act of Ontario.  

The incident is family-related and accordingly, disclosure of further details, including the name of the member, will not be released as they may identify the victim.

No further details will be released.
