Waterloo Regional Police Continuing to Investigate a Shooting in Waterloo

Waterloo Region, Ontario Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a shooting incident that occurred in Waterloo on April 19, 2019.

Police responded to a plaza in the area of King Street North and University Avenue East at approximately 2:05 a.m. after receiving reports of multiple gunshots.

A 26-year-old male, from the Greater Toronto area, was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released. Two other females were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Investigators are continuing to conduct an extensive video canvas of the area and are requesting anyone who may have dash cam footage from the north end of Waterloo between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. to contact them. Investigators are also encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, and have not yet spoken to police, to call 519-570-9777 ext. 8446.

Police are also looking for information in relation to a dark coloured SUV that was seen fleeing the area during the time of the shooting. Multiple occupants were inside the vehicle at the time.

This incident is believed to be targeted however, residents are reminded to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or suspicious individuals to police. Anyone with information is asked to call 519-570-9777 ext. 8446 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
