On Monday, September 9, 2019, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Victoria Street South near Strange Street in Kitchener for a collision involving a motor vehicle and cyclist. A 22-year-old Kitchener male was operating a bicycle, travelling north on the Iron Horse Trail, when he attempted to cross Victoria Street and was struck by a motor vehicle travelling east on Victoria Street. The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with serious injuries. Victoria Street was closed for several hours while investigators were on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
