Deputy Chief - Systems and Innovation

Studio photo of Deputy Chief Kevin ChalkDeputy Chief Kevin Chalk joined the Waterloo Regional Police Service in March 1982, and served as a front line patrol officer in Kitchener for nine years.  While assigned to Waterloo uniform patrol he served as a member of the Emergency Response Unit and remained so assigned until his transfer to the Drug Unit in 1989.  Kevin held progressively responsible positions in criminal investigations and drug operations.  

Following his promotion to Sergeant in 1994 he was a front-line supervisor, media officer and Executive Officer to the Chief of Police after which he was promoted to the rank of Inspector and second in command of the Criminal Investigations Division.  In 2001 Kevin was promoted to Superintendent and in that capacity held several Divisional Commander positions including Community and Corporate Services, Waterloo Division and Kitchener Division.  In October of 2013 Kevin was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief.  

Deputy Chief Chalk is the Administration and Member Services Deputy providing senior leadership to the Member Services Division, Information Technology, Courts and all Administrative functions.   
Deputy Chief Chalk is past Chair of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police Crime Prevention Committee and currently co-chairs the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Crime Prevention, Community Safety and Well Being Community.  He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy. 

Deputy Chief Chalk is a long time resident of the Region of Waterloo and currently resides in Kitchener with his wife, Tammy.
