Deputy Chief - Neighbourhood Policing & Investigations

Deputy Hilton smiling in uniformDeputy Chief Shirley Hilton is a 32-year-member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service.  Throughout her career, she has served in a number of different positions, including Frontline Patrol, General Investigations, Homicide, Drug Enforcement, Professional Standards and Superintendent of Central Division. Her passion for mentoring and succession management has led to her helping create a Women in Leadership committee and annual forum. It has also led to her helping develop a Professional Development Network that acts as a formal career mentorship program for members within the Service.  She served as Acting Deputy Chief from January 2019 to June 2019.

In 2020, Deputy Hilton was chosen to lead the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force for the Region of Waterloo.

Deputy Chief Designate Hilton has a Law and Security Diploma from Fanshawe College and a Police Leadership and Management Development certificate from Dalhousie University.
