
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two parties in connection to a robbery that took place in February 2024.
On the morning of June 11, 2024, police completed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Columbia Street East and King Street North in Waterloo.
As a result of the warrant, police located and seized a loaded handgun.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police have arrested a 38-year-old male with the following charges:
- Discharge a firearm with intent
- Robbery
- Assault with a weapon
- Sexual assault with a weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
A 26-year-old female has also been arrested and charged with firearms-related offences.
Both parties are being held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing the investigation of an attempted sexual assault and robbery incident involving a firearm in Waterloo. Investigators are providing updated information.
On February 21, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a female victim was approached by an unknown male near Albert Street and Hickory Street.
The male took the victim’s personal belongings and attempted to sexually assault her while brandishing a firearm. While the victim fled from the area, the subject discharged a firearm.
There were no physical injuries as a result of the incident.
Investigators have updated the description as being a black male, thin build, approximately 5’6”, wearing an orange construction jacket or hoodie.
The subject was driving a white 2012-2017 Hyundai Accent hatchback.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a person-on-person robbery involving a firearm in Waterloo.
On February 22, 2024, at approximately 12 a.m., police responded to the area of Albert Street and Hickory Street West for a report of a robbery.
The victim was walking and was approached by an unknown male suspect who brandished a firearm. The suspect stole the victim’s personal belongings and fled the area on foot.
While fleeing the area, the male suspect discharged a single gunshot from the firearm.
There were no physical injuries reported as a result of this incident.
The male is described as approximately 30 years, 5’9”, and was wearing a construction hoodie and dark clothing. The male was last seen on Hickory Street West towards Hazel Street.
This investigation is ongoing by WRPS' General Investigations Unit.
