Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 23-year-old male with firearms offences in connection to an incident in Waterloo.
On February 10, 2022, at approximately 9:10 p.m., police responded to a call involving a person in possession of a weapon at an apartment in the area of University Avenue and West and Phillip Street.
Members of Waterloo Regional Police’s Neighbourhood Policing North Division and the Emergency Response Team attended the apartment and negotiated the safe surrender of the involved male, who was subsequently arrested.
The male has been charged with a number of firearms-related offences, including: Pointing a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Assault with a Weapon, Breach of Release Order (two counts), Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order and Failure to Comply with a Release Order (two counts).
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
