
Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest in a hate motivated incident in Waterloo.
On January 2, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., police responded to reports of a disturbance at a residential building on King Street North near Elgin Street.
Through investigation, it was determined that the victim was approached by an unknown male, who began making racial and derogatory comments towards them. The male began following the victim throughout the building while uttering threats. The male then fled the area.
There were no physical injuries reported.
As a result of the investigation, on January 4, 2025, police arrested and charged a 34-year-old male with:
- Criminal harassment
- Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
- Possession of stolen property
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
