Arrests Made in Connection to Death of a Child in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario Waterloo Regional Police have arrested three individuals in connection to an investigation involving the death of a child. 

On December 1, 2020, shortly after noon, police responded to a residence on Winter Court in Cambridge after receiving a 9-1-1 medical call concerning a child in distress.

A two-year-old male was located by Emergency Services in the residence without vital signs. The child was pronounced deceased shortly after.

Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit assisted the Coroner’s Office with its death investigation.  As a result of information gathered, a criminal investigation commenced.

Through investigation, the child’s death was determined to be caused by a drug overdose.

On April 8, 2021, a 59-year-old male and two females, aged 54 and 29, all from Cambridge, have been arrested and charged with Criminal Negligence Cause Death. All are scheduled to appear in Kitchener’s Ontario Court of Justice on April 9, 2021.

The individuals accused are related to the victim.
