Waterloo Region, Ontario – County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 17-year-member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service in relation to an investigation into an off-duty incident.
County of Brant OPP responded to the area of Grand River Street North in Paris on December 23, 2018 after receiving a report of a vehicle driving erratically.
As a result of the investigation, Sergeant Jason Bonikowsky has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus.
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Provincial Court of Justice in Brantford on January 17, 2019.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Professional Standards Unit will be conducting a review of the circumstances.
As the matter is currently before the court, the Waterloo Regional Police Service will not be releasing any further information in regards to this incident.
