Region of Waterloo Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Bravo Platoon North Division.

The declaration comes after three members from the Waterloo division tested positive for COVID-19. The members are all part of the same shift.

Since March 2020, a total of 12 members of the organization have tested positive for Covid-19. This includes sworn and civilian members from five different buildings in Waterloo Region.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service continues to work closely with Region of Waterloo Public Health to ensure proper contact tracing is undertaken. Close contacts of confirmed cases who are required to self-isolate and seek testing are being contacted directly.

The Service continues to follow health guidelines set out by Region of Waterloo Public Health and has implemented several measures to ensure the health and safety of its members. Service delivery and emergency response to the community will not be affected by this outbreak.

"The Waterloo Regional Police Service is taking several precautions to ensure all members are kept safe and healthy as we work with the community to stop the spread of this virus," said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. "Our members will follow all public health guidelines while continuing to respond to calls for service to maintain public safety in Waterloo Region."
