Emergency Services Respond to a Serious Collision in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario  WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit is investigating a serious collision involving a single motor vehicle in Kitchener.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a Hyundai sedan on Ottawa Street South near Strasburg Road. 

The Hyundai left the roadway striking a hydro pole, fence, and eventually a structure in the backyard of a nearby residential home.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 26-year-old female from Kitchener, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an out of region hospital. A 29-year-old female passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. 

A section of Ottawa Street South was closed for a lengthy period of time for the investigation and hydro repairs.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is encouraged to call police at 519-570-9777 extension 8856.
