Ian McLean Appointed to the Waterloo Regional Police Services Board

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Services Board is pleased to welcome Ian McLean as its newest member. Mr. McLean has been appointed by the Province of Ontario for a three-year term, effective April 16, 2020.

Mr. McLean is currently President and CEO of the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, where he was appointed in September 2010. He also continues to serve as Chair of his family’s consulting business, McLean and Associates. Prior to his appointment at the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. McLean served for seven years as a Councillor for the City of Waterloo, representing the Uptown Ward. During this time, he served as the Chair of Council’s Finance and Strategic Planning Committee.

Mr. McLean has experience in both the public and the private sectors working for both large and small organizations, including roles with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, Labatt Breweries, Lakeport Breweries and Paul Puncher Clothier. He is also a very active member in the community, where he has served with a number community organizations, including Uptown Waterloo BIA, Community Safety and Crime Prevention Council, Immigration Partnership of Waterloo Region, Waterloo Public Library Board, KW Art Gallery, Knox Church Session, KW Oktoberfest Advisory Board, Waterloo Citizen’s Environmental Advisory Committee, Chamber Health Care Resources Council, Prosperity Council, Kitchener Waterloo Girls Basketball Association (Founder), Waterloo North Hydro Board and City of Waterloo Seniors Lunch Program.

Mr. McLean holds an Honours BA in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto as well as a Diploma in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University.

The Waterloo Regional Police Services Board is a civilian oversight body that governs the Waterloo Regional Police Service. Under the provisions of the Ontario Police Services Act, the Board is responsible for the provision of adequate and effective police services for the residents of the Region of Waterloo.
