Man’s Body Recovered from a Small Body of Water in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario- During the morning of July 23, 2019, The Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located a man’s body in the small body of water off of Goddard Crescent in Cambridge.

The body was recovered shortly before 10 a.m., by a police search team, who were searching the area as part of a missing person investigation.

Police began to search the area of Cambridge on July 22, 2019, after they received a report of a missing person from Cambridge. During the search police located the male’s vehicle in a parking lot off of Goddard Crescent. Evidence at the scene suggested that the male may have wandered into the nearby wooded area.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Emergency Response Team, The Canine Unit, The Traffic Service’s Unit and Detectives conducted a comprehensive ground search of the area. During the search some evidence was located at the water’s edge which led investigators to believe that the male may have entered the water.

On July 23, 2019, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit arrived on scene to assist with the investigation. It was during that time that they located a man’s body.

The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at a later date.

Police do not believe any foul play was involved.  The man’s death is believed to be accidental or as a result of misadventure.
