Officers from WRPS' South Division Arrest Male for Catalytic Converter Theft

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Police have laid charges in connection to the theft of a catalytic converter in Cambridge.

On April 13, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a report of a theft in-progress in the area of Dundas Street North and Jarvis Street.

Police received information that an individual was removing a catalytic converter from a motor vehicle.

Police located an individual walking on Jarvis Street carrying a catalytic converter. After a brief foot pursuit, a 34-year-old male was arrested.

The stolen property was recovered, and police determined that the arrested male was wanted on outstanding warrants.

The accused is facing charges of theft under $5,000, escape lawful custody, breach of probation, assault with intent to resist arrest, and fail to appear, and was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
