Waterloo Region, Ontario – Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, along with local Special Olympic athletes, are gearing up for the 30th annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, scheduled to take place Thursday, June 1, 2017.
Runners, walkers and cyclists will travel several different routes throughout Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge to help raise awareness and funds for the upcoming Special Olympics. A total of 45 kilometres will be covered throughout the day.
It’s expected some motorists may experience brief delays as police escort the participants through major intersections. Waterloo Regional Police would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and cooperation during this fundraising event.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest fundraiser for Special Olympics worldwide and we are very grateful to the community and our partner agencies for their support. By working together, we can help enrich the lives of athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for them to participate in their chosen sport and to showcase their talents.
