Police Charge Youth after Firearm Brandished During Assault in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged a Cambridge youth with multiple weapons-related offences.

On July 4, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police responded to the area of Equestrian Way and Speedsville Road for a report of an assault involving a firearm.

Officers determined that a male youth brandished a firearm towards the victim and then threatened them with a knife.

The victim was able to flee to a place of safety and did not sustain any physical injuries.

Officers subsequently identified and arrested the suspect in the Hespeler area of Cambridge.

The arrested male, a 15-year-old from Cambridge, was charged with multiple offences, including:

  • Assault
  • Point firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Utter threats to cause death
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
