Police Charge Youth after Responding to Weapons Incident in Waterloo

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Neighbourhood Policing North Division arrested a youth after responding to a weapons incident in Waterloo.

On June 5, 2023, at approximately 11:50 a.m., police responded to reports of youths being sprayed with a noxious substance at a plaza in the area of King Street North University Avenue West. 

Officers arrived in the area and located the victim, a male youth, and several witnesses.

Police then located the suspect, a male youth, in a vehicle driving away from the scene and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect youth was located in the passenger seat of the vehicle and placed under arrest.

The victim suffered minor physical injuries and was not transported to hospital. 

As a result of the investigation, the male youth has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, and administering a noxious substance.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
