Police Continue to Investigate Report of a Sexual Assault

On June 8, 2021, as a result of an ongoing investigation, police arrested a 34-year-old Waterloo male in connection to a sexual assault that occurred on a trail near Benjamin Road in Waterloo. 

As a result of the previous media release, police received additional reports from other victims. 

The male has been charged with Criminal Harassment and Sexual Assault in connection to two separate incidents. He was released on an Undertaking.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information, or any other potential victims, are asked to contact Police at 519-570-9777 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service's Special Victims Unit continues to investigate a sexual assault that occurred on June 6, 2021.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., an adult female was walking on a trail in a wooded area near the intersection of Benjamin Road and Burning Bush Road in Waterloo when she was approached and sexually assaulted by an unknown male.

The suspect has been described as male, South Asian, approximately 5'5"-5'8" tall, with a slim build, black hair, and a trimmed beard. He was wearing a black hat, a purple shirt, and denim shorts.

Police are reminding the public to be aware of their surroundings and avoid walking alone in secluded areas. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact police at 519-570-9777 extension 8354 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
