Police Issue Warning Against Possible Phone Scam

Waterloo Region, Ontario–  Waterloo Regional Police are issuing a warning to residents following a possible telephone scam that occurred this week.

A Mount Forest woman received a phone call from an unknown man who said he was collecting donation money on behalf of the “Waterloo Police Auxiliary,” located in Cambridge. He advised the victim that other people were donating between $30 and $40.

Police are requesting that anyone who receives a call similar to the one described above to please contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service at 519-653-7700.

Importantly, police also remind the community to not become a victim of fraudulent phone scams and to never provide personal information or funds to someone in this format.
