Police Seize Conducted Energy Weapon in Waterloo

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after a weapons incident in Waterloo.

On September 23, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., police responded to the area of University Avenue West and Phillip Street for reports of an assault involving a conducted energy weapon (CEW).

Through investigation, police located and arrested a male and seized a CEW, knife, and makeshift brass knuckles.

There were no physical injuries reported as a result of the incident.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Kitchener male was charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and five counts of Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
