In January 2021, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s South CORE (Community Oriented Response Enforcement) Team commenced a drug trafficking investigation. On February 26, 2021, at approximately 6 p.m., as part of the ongoing investigation and with the assistance of the Central CORE Team, the Drugs and Firearms Unit and Emergency Response Team completed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant in the area of King Street East in Cambridge.
As a result of the search police seized approximately $36,000 worth of suspected fentanyl, approximately $19,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine, approximately $28,800 worth of suspected cocaine, and 6 suspected oxycodone pills.
As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with numerous drug-related and criminal code offences, including four counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and two counts of Breach of a Judicial order. A 35-year-old Cambridge female remains outstanding and will be jointly charged with the 53-year-old Cambridge male.
A 46-year-old Cambridge male was also arrested and charged with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, two counts of Possession of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl and one count of Suspended Drive.
