Police Seize Suspected Cocaine and A Loaded Handgun from a Stolen Motor Vehicle

On January 19, 2021, Waterloo Regional Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Hickory Street West and Larch Street in Waterloo.

The vehicle failed to stop for police and was later located abandoned a short time later.

Through investigation, police determined it was a stolen vehicle. Upon conducting an inventory search of the vehicle, police located and seized suspected cocaine and a loaded handgun.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Drugs and Firearms Unit identified the driver as a 22-year-old male from Waterloo.

On February 4, 2021, the male was arrested on outstanding warrants and was also charged with weapons and drug-related offences in connection to the stolen vehicle investigation. The male is being held for a bail hearing.
