
In September 2021, members of the Joint Waterloo-Guelph Human Trafficking Team initiated an investigation into alleged human trafficking, after the victim was referred to the team by a community member.
On October 3, 2021, as a result of the ongoing investigation, a 31-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking in Persons
- Two counts of Adult Material Benefit
- Procuring
- Administer Noxious Thing
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Assault- Threats to a Third Party
- Utter Threats
The male was held for a bail hearing.
The victim has been provided with wrap around support services from Victim Services.
