Traffic Stop Leads to Weapon Charges in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – On February 6, 2021, at approximately 9:45 p.m., members of Waterloo Regional Police Service's Community Oriented Response and Enforcement (CORE) Team conducted a traffic stop in the area of Westmount Road West and Overlea Drive in Kitchener.

Officers observed the vehicle with unauthorized licence plates.

As a result of the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, a 25-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and has been charged with several weapons and stolen property-related offences, including:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Cannabis readily available to a driver
  • Unauthorized plate for a motor vehicle
  • No insurance
  • No permit

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in March 2021.
