Waterloo Region Crime Stoppers and Waterloo Regional Police Partner with Mac’s Convenience/Circle K Stores for “Operation Heat”
Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is pleased to once again partner with Crime Stoppers and Mac’s Convenience/Circle K stores to reward youth with good behavior through a positive ticketing program.
Operation Heat will run throughout the fall and winter months and will see police officers handing out positive tickets (coupons) to youth seen exhibiting good behavior within the community. The tickets offer youth a free hot chocolate, redeemable at any Mac’s Convenience/Circle K stores.
“We are excited to once again take part in a program that encourages youth to make positive decisions and, as a result, better our community,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. This is a chance to not only reinforce good behavior, but to build positive relationships between our youth and our officers.”
Good behaviour can include a number of different actions, such as picking up garbage, holding the door open for someone, wearing a helmet while riding a bike, and helping a younger brother or sister walk safely across the street.
If your child receives a positive ticket this year, we would love to hear about it. You can share the experience on our social media sites: Twitter: @WRPSToday, Facebook: Waterlooregionalpolice or Instagram: officialwrps.
