Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a Kitchener male after an online child luring investigation.
On May 7, 2024, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) notified Waterloo Regional Police that the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force required assistance investigating an incident involving a 14-year-old victim.
The child was in an online chat room, where an adult male initiated a conversation. The child indicated her age, and the man proceeded to send photos to the victim and request photos from the victim.
As a result of the investigation, the offender was identified as a 52-year-old Kitchener male. A search warrant was completed at a Kitchener residence as a part of the investigation. On May 21, 2024, the male was arrested and charged with luring a child, make sexually explicit material available to a child, and indecent communications.
The male was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
