Waterloo Regional Police Arrest and Charge a Male After a Weapons Incident in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Police arrested a male after a weapons incident in Kitchener.

On December 7, 2023, at approximately 3:45 p.m., police responded to the area of Thaler Avenue and Kinzie Avenue for reports of a male seen with multiple firearms.

There were no reports of the male using or pointing the firearms at any member of the public.

The suspect, a 42-year-old male, was arrested and charged for the following offences:

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Possession of a firearm
• Possession of a prohibited weapon
• Breach a release order.

Upon arrest, officers confirmed the firearms were replicas, however the suspect was in possession of other prohibited weapons. The suspect is being held in police custody for a bail hearing.
