
Waterloo Region, Ontario - On May 3, 2021, as a result of the investigation, the driver of the waste management vehicle, a 43-year-old Cambridge male, was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Death and Criminal Negligence Causing Death.
On February 18, 2021, Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services Unit responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a waste management truck.
The 77-year-old pedestrian was pronounced deceased shortly after the collision.
The driver is scheduled to appear in court on June 11, 2021.

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, at approximately 9 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Tremaine Crescent and Tremaine Drive in Kitchener for reports of a collision involving a waste management vehicle and a pedestrian. The driver of the waste management vehicle was travelling west on Tremaine Drive and made a left turn onto Tremaine Crescent when they struck a female pedestrian who was crossing Tremaine Crescent. The pedestrian was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The collision continues to be investigated by the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Unit. The area surrounding Tremaine Crescent and Tremaine Drive remains closed. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 extension 8856 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
