Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a 58-year-old Kitchener man in connection to the death of Edresilda Haan.
Edresilda Haan, 58, was found deceased in the backyard of her Sprucedale Crescent residence in Kitchener on August 22, 2018 after emergency crews responded to multiple reports of a house explosion.
A male, who also resided in the Sprucedale residence, was airlifted to hospital with critical injures. He remains in hospital under medical care.
As a result of the explosion, one home was demolished and two other nearby residences received extensive damage.
On Monday, October 8, 2018, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit arrested a 58-year-old Kitchener man in connection to this incident.
He is scheduled to appear in Kitchener’s Ontario Court of Justice today and is facing several charges, including one count of First Degree Murder, one count of Arson Disregard for Human Life and two counts of Arson Damage to Property.
