Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to join the community in the celebration of Black History Month.
Throughout the month of February, members of WRPS will be featured in a series of videos that will touch on the following themes:
- The personal impact of the past year
- Current issues surrounding racism
- The importance of representation in our Service
The community will have the opportunity to hear directly from our members who share their thoughts and perspectives.
“As we reflect and recognize the experiences of the Black community in Waterloo Region, these videos will provide responses to thought-provoking issues that we have faced together,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “While the experiences of the Black community go beyond one month a year, this project provided space to acknowledge, honour, engage with, and embrace our members' thoughts and perceptions on compelling topics facing our community.”
