Waterloo Regional Police Charge Male with Attempt Murder in Relation to Incident in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 32-year-old Kitchener male with Attempt Murder in connection to an incident that occurred on July 11, 2021. 

At approximately 5:25 p.m., police responded to a residence in the area of Linden Drive and Preston Parkway in Cambridge after receiving a report of a female in medical distress. 

The victim, a 37-year-old Cambridge female, suffered several injuries, including stab wounds. The victim was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with serious injuries. 

The suspect fled the residence but was located by police at a Kitchener residence and was arrested. 

The male was charged with Attempt Murder, Aggravated Sexual Assault, Uttering Threats to Cause Death and Overcoming Resistance by Choking. 

The victim and the accused are known to each other, and there is no concern for public safety.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled for July 12, 2021.
